"They first met at work at a time when both of them were trying to embark on new career paths. Though they were at the same company, they had very different plans for themselves at the time. Brian had been at the company for a few years and was actually preparing to leave New York for business school, while Sharon had just recently joined the company and was in the process of discovering a new career direction. Their more obvious cultural likenesses acted as a natural ice breaker and they became friendly fairly immediately. Gradually, they began spending more and more time together outside the office, but insisting that it was simply as “friends.” They took comfort in the fact that Brian's imminent departure for graduate school in the coming months would surely and decisively end any potential feelings of romance, which they would soon discover both existed and were very much mutual. After several months of casually dating, they both realized that there was something between them that was inescapable – it wasn’t chemistry or a specific quality they sought in one another; they simply loved being in each other’s presence. Brian began questioning what he may be leaving behind in New York at the same time that Sharon began to feel that she was letting someone she’d grown so close to walk away. Ultimately, honesty and perseverance prevailed – Brian relinquished his seat at school and quickly found an opportunity to enroll in another program in New York so that we could give themselves a real chance. At the same time, Sharon found better career opportunities for herself at another firm. What they once thought might be a mistake has turned into what they look back on now as the first real decision they ever made as a couple – to stick together and never let each other go."
From the bride... "Tim and I met at Union College when he was senior and I was a freshman. He first began courting me during the winter term, but we did not begin dating until his senior spring. We dated for two years and then took some time apart before I moved to New York after graduating. I had been living in New York for 1.5 years when Tim walked by the window of the nail salon I was at one afternoon and we happened to lock eyes. He waited outside the nail salon and we walked and talked for a while that afternoon. From that day on, we quickly rekindled our relationship and have loved one another ever since!"
