From the groom... "Kristina and I met when we were both living in London in 2013. I'm originally from St. Louis and went to college at Miami of Ohio. I had been living in London for school for the year and Kristina came over in January 2013 from USC to study abroad. Kristina's best friend and roommate at both USC and London, Cate, was a friend of mine from high school, and I found out they lived just down the road from me in London. Within the first week of their arrival, I met up with them at their apartment to go out one night. Kristina was actually in a wheelchair the first time I met her since she had broken both of her feet in a skiing accident just days before flying over to London. We had a connection and hit it off right away. We continued to get together almost daily following our first night out and had 4 months of adventures together in London before heading back home. I luckily got an internship in Los Angeles that summer and we continued our relationship. We spent a year long-distance during our final year of college, visiting each other almost every weekend while our relationship continued to grow. I moved out to Los Angeles after college when our lives finally came together again. 5 years later and we are now officially getting married at the One & Only Palmilla!"
From the bride... "Funnily enough, Michael and I actually met on a dating app. We had our first date two days after Valentine's Day in 2015, on a Monday night at Michael's favorite hole in the wall sushi spot in San Francisco. We didn't have any of the first date awkwardness - the conversation flowed and we talked about everything. After dinner, we had a sweet goodnight kiss (which Michael later told me made him so excited he went home and told his roommate all about it!). After our first date, we started to spend as much time with each other as we could. We started a Monday date night tradition of going out to dinner in a different area of the city each time, which was a fun way to explore and get to know each other. Four months into our relationship, I went with Michael to his sister's wedding in Big Sur, and right after that, we went on a trip to Norway with my entire family. We loved getting to know each other's families, and by that point, it was clear to them that we had something special. My mom pulled me aside one evening in Norway and said she thought Michael and I would get married. She was right!"
From the bride... "Tarek and I met at yoga. At our yoga studio, the teacher of the class of over one hundred yogis regularly begins class by asking students to introduce themselves to someone they don't know to "shrink the world." One day, Tarek and I were practicing close to each other and turned and said hello. That quick meet and greet eventually resulted in this marriage … and our expanding the world with our beautiful son, Eli! That first meeting was just a brief “hello” and exchange of names, but after several weeks of flirting and chatting, I eventually invited him to a whiskey tasting party I was having at my house. He came, and basically never left. We quickly knew we were going to be together forever, and given our ages, we decided to try to start a family. We were lucky enough to get pregnant quickly, and our son Eli was born on October 27, 2015."
